1978-79.  See the paragraph about the Aim for the Ace!  First TV series.  The second TV series produced because the first seies got popularity on the rerun.  Not the sequel, but a remake.  More faithful to the original manga (graphic novel) by Sumika Yamamato than the first series, and more youth/schooldrama oriented then the first series that was a variant of the 'sports-spirit' genre.  The chief director is Minoru Okazaki.  Produced by Tokyo Movie Shinsha.  25 episodes.
