We follow the lofe of the little, sweet and innocent orphan girl Candy Candy from the days at the orphanage Pony's Home, the drammatic farwell with her two best friends, the meeting with the "Prince of the Hill" and later, a she gets adopted away to the cruel family Loka, not as a family member, but as the new victim for the evil boy Leo and his sister Liza. It has strong Soap-Opera elements, to say the least.
